Hannibal, Mo.- The Missouri Baptist women's soccer team were looking to get back on the winning track and move up in the American Midwest Conference standings when they visited Hannibal-LaGrange. After grabbing an early lead the team was unable to hold off the Trojans falling 4-1.
The team entered the game in second place behind Park University in the AMC and were looking to inch closer to first place. The game started off well for MBU when in the 18th minute
Lauren Clinton put the team ahead 1-0. The Trojans were able to even the score 1-1 on a goal by Fernanda Miaci in the 36th minute. Hannibal-LaGrange outshot the Spartans 10-9 in the first half.
The Trojans were able to take over the game in the second half. Fernanda Miaci added the game winner in the 50th minute to make it 2-1, then went on to score two more goals in the 56th minute and then 79th minute for Hannibal-LaGrange to make it a final 4-1.
MBU's goalie Samantha Schulze made five saves for the team. The Spartans were outshot in the game 20-14, while
Lauren Clinton was able to lead the team in shots with four.
The team will look to get back to their winning ways when they host Benedictine University on October 15th at 5:00 p.m.
