Lebanon, Il.- After a shutout win against Benedictine University, the Missouri Baptist women's soccer team were hoping for another shutout against McKendree. However, it was the other way around as the Bearcats shutout the Spartans 5-0.
After scoring six goals last game the team was looking forward to another strong offensive game. Amy Cassiday scored what turned to be the game winner for McKendree in the seventh minute to make it 1-0. Their was no scoring the rest of the first half as both teams played strong defense and kept their scoring chances up. McKendree outshot the Spartans 13-8.
The Bearcats took over the second half when Alex Hartwick scored in the 48th minute to expand the lead to 2-0. McKendree went on to score three more times on goals by Madalan O'Leary in the 62nd minute, Amy Cassiday added her second of the day in the 83rd minute and six minutes later Erin Kilian made it a final 5-0.
MBU's goalie Samantha Schulze made seven saves on the day before being relieved by KeKua Lupton who made four saves.
Alexis Baez led the team in shots with four. McKendree outshot the Spartans 34-12 in the game.
The team will have a chance to forget this loss when they play in front of the home crowd on Saturday October 22nd against Hannibal-LaGrange University at 3:00 p.m.
