St. Louis, Mo.- The Missouri Baptist men's soccer team wanted to not only get their first win on the season but also get a important conference win on the road. They were able to do so after 90 minutes of play, the game went into overtime where the Spartans won the game 3-2.
The team was looking to get their offense going just as the women's team did previously before them. MBU's
Danny Traylor got the team off on the right foot with a goal one minute into the game making it 1-0. Both teams went back and forth until the 17th minute when Harris-Stowe's Tarik Sehovic was able to even the score at 1-1.
The scoring didn't end their for the Spartans as
Danny Traylor added his second of the day to make it 2-1 in the 27th minute the last goal of the half. The team outshot the Hornets 4-1 in the first half.
The Spartans were looking to hold that lead in the second half. However, in the 83rd minute Tarik Sehovic added his second of the day as well for Harris-Stowe to even the score 2-2 before the end of the game.
There was no scoring in the first overtime, but in the 103rd minute of the second overtime MBU's
Greg Kranz was able to beat Harris-Stowe's goalie Colby Poindexter to make it a final 3-2. The Spartans outshot the Hornets 11-5 in the game.
The team's record moves to 1-9-1 and will look add another win when they host William Woods University on October 8th at 4:00 p.m.
