MBU'S WOMEN SOCCER FALL IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE

Chesterfield, Mo.- The Missouri Baptist women's soccer team were looking to move up into third place in the American Midwest Conference with a win over Park University. The team was unable to get their offense going as Park scored two goals in the second half to win 3-0.

After a strong performance against Benedictine University, the Spartans were looking for that same offensive fire power against a tough Pirate team. MBU was playing strong defense until in the 16th minute when Ashley Maxwell got behind the Missouri Baptist defense and beat goalie Kekua Lupton to make it 1-0. The team was unable to even the score before half and were outshot 5-4.

In the second half, Park took over the game. The Pirates had plenty of scoring chances, but were unable to add to their lead. In the 82nd minute Nori Gedei made it 2-0 Park on a tip in goal after a save by Kekua Lupton that went right to Nori Gedei feet. Then, Dana Hemmingsen made it a final 3-0 in the 87th minute.

The Spartans were outshot in the game 25-6, with 20 of the Pirates shots coming in the second half. MBU's goalie Kekua Lupton made nine saves.

The Spartans end the regular season with a 6-11-1 record. In the AMC the team stands in fourth place and will have a game this Friday November 4th at 1:00 p.m. It is to be determined who Missouri Baptist will face.
