Parkville, Mo.- The Missouri Baptist women's soccer team headed to Park University looking to advance to the championship game in the American Midwest Conference Tournament. The team's season ended however with a 3-0 loss.
During the regular season the Spartans lost both games to the Pirates being outscored 8-0. The team was looking for redemption for its final meeting. Park was able to get off to a fast start with a goal in the sixth minute scored by Ashley Maxwell to make it 1-0. Missouri Baptist played good defense and kept its offensive pressure on Park throughout the first half.
The game went to 2-0 in the 35th minute on a own goal by Missouri Baptist in the 35th minute. The Spartans were outshot in the first half 7-2.
MBU knew they had to get back into the game early in the second half. The team was unable to get their offense going as their scoring chances were just missing the net. In the 86th minute, another own goal was scored by Missouri Baptist to make it a final 3-0.
The team was outshot in the game 22-6. Samantha Schulze made 10 saves for the Spartans.
The women's soccer team season ends with a 7-12-1 record, while in the AMC finished 5-5-1.
