ST. LOUIS – After handing Columbia College its lone AMC los of the 2013 season earlier this year, the Cougars got revenge on the women's soccer team in the AMC tournament semifinals with a 3-1 win. The loss ended the Spartans season with a 9-8-3 record.
MBU was limited to just three shots, including one shot on goal. The shot on goal found the back of the net off of the leg of Carly Hempel. Sam Schulze had a busy 90 minutes, making eight saves and allowing three goals.
Top-seeded Columbia held a 1-0 advantage at the half after getting a goal 15 minutes into the contest.
In the second half, Columbia added two more goals to take a 3-0 lead with less than ten minutes left in regulation. Hempel scored the lone Spartans goal with less than three minutes in the game.
Goalkeeper Sam Shulze, forward Carly Hempel, midfielder Lauren Clinton, midfielder Kaytlin Nevels, midfielder Anna Recer, midfielder Megan Huffman, and forward Taylor Chatmon played in their final game as MBU Spartans.
