COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri Baptist Men's and Women's indoor track and field teams competed in the American Midwest Conference Championships on Friday with both teams finishing in third place out of five teams.

For the Women's team Nirvana Zalba led the way. Zalba finished first overall in the 3000 Meter race walk setting a new NAIA leading time of 14:15. This time was 54 seconds ahead of the number two ranked race walker. Molly Josephs finished in second place with a time of 16:15.                                                       

The women posted many first place finishes for the AMC. Mariah Quintanilla finished first in the league in the 60 Meter dash with a time of 8.31 seconds. Porsha Grady placed first in the 800 Meter with a time of 2:32.78. Ashley Nalty finished first in the high jump, clearing 1.65 Meters. Taylor Hosna took first place in the long jump, going 4.89 Meters.

In the 200 Meter race, MBU had the top three finishers. Arianna Dotson finished first with a time of 28.09 seconds. Dornisha Goodrich took second and Marlisa Stevenson came in third.

On the men's side, Quincy Sharp was the top finisher. Sharp placed second in the 60 Meter with a time of 7.16 seconds. Jared Kaufman was the second Spartan finisher with a time of 7.22 seconds.

MBU men had the first and second place finishers in the 3000 Meter race walk. Nick Christie came in second with a time of 12:48 and Alejandro Chavez came in third finishing in 13:39.

Tim Williams led the Spartans in the 200 Meter finishing in a time of 2:03. Williams also led the way in the one mile run with a time of 4:39.

Missouri Baptist men's and women's track teams next competition will be March 2 at the NAIA National Championships.
