Ethan Gibbons started the first game and was lights-out. The senior tossed a complete game five-hitter and allowed no runs while he recorded nine strikeouts.
The Spartan offense came up big in game two. The team posted two runs in the third, four in the fifth, two in the sixth and six in the seventh inning on the way to the commanding victory.

In his lone trip to the plate in the top of the seventh, Vinnie Fresquez came to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam to left field. The hit capped-off a six-run sixth inning and extended the lead.
Spartan starter Julien Soucy also had an impressive day on the hill. Soucy threw seven innings of three-hit baseball and collected another shutout victory for his team.
The Spartans will head back to it for game two on Saturday when Mike Avila and Nathan Utt will get the nod in games one and two.
