Hidalgo Slugs His Way to ABCA All-America Second Team Honors

Missouri Baptist University outfielder Carlos Hidalgo has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) NAIA All-America Second Team following a standout 2026 season.

Hidalgo started all 52 games for the Spartans and finished the season batting .395 with 81 hits in 205 at-bats. He scored 67 runs, drove in 61 runs, and recorded 15 doubles and 16 home runs. His 16 home runs and 61 RBI led the conference.

He also added 13 stolen bases while helping MBU to a Heart of America Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship and the NAIA Opening Round.

Among his top performances of the year was a five-hit game against Benedictine College (Kan.) on April 6. Hidalgo also produced a five-RBI, two-home run effort against Baker University (Kan.) on March 13. He recorded 21 multi-hit games during the season and finished with a .986 fielding percentage in the outfield, totaling 68 putouts and four assists.

He collected four-hit performances against Cumberland University (Tenn.), Doane University (Neb.), Central Baptist College (Ark.), and Benedictine, while recording multiple RBI in 16 games.

The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Teams across all divisions will be announced on June 17, followed by the ABCA/Rawlings National Pitchers and Position Players of the Year on June 22.

The ABCA All-America Team was first recognized in 1949 and now spans nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II, and III; NAIA; NJCAA Divisions I, II, and III; Pacific Association Division; and high school. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Teams were introduced in 2007.
