LEWISTON, Idaho – After posting a big season for the Missouri Baptist women's track and field team, Ashleigh Nalty ended her freshman campaign as an NAIA All-American in the high jump on Saturday.
Nalty, just one day removed from competing in the Heptathlon, finished behind another freshman, Akela Jones of Oklahoma Baptist. Nalty finished with a height of 1.68 meters and displayed tremendous poise.
"I cannot say enough about Ashleigh's performance this week," said Missouri Baptist Head Coach Tish Hanna. "For anyone, especially a freshman, to pick-up six events at the end of the season, compete for two grueling days, and then be able to come back ans get second in the high jump is amazing. She has the potential to be one of the best athletes the women's track team has ever had."
Nalty's second-place finish ensured that no one from the women's outdoor team that qualified for the NAIA National Outdoor Championship finished below second. Earlier in the weekend, Nirvana Zalba and Molly Josephs finished first and second (respectively) in the Race Walk.
