BELLEVILLE, ILL. – The Missouri Baptist women's soccer team tied Lindenwood-Belleville today, 2-2. The tie brings the MBU record to 0-1-1 on the young 2013 season. Brieanna Nickles and Anna Recer netted goals for the Spartans.
Missouri Baptist took a 1-0 lead off the foot of Anna Recer with 25:30 remaining in the first half. Nine minutes later, the Lynx tied the game up with 16 minutes remaining in the half.
The score stayed tied at 1-1 until Brieanna Nickles gave the Spartans a 2-1 lead with just seven minutes in the game. Melissa Patchin recorded the assist, her first of the season.
Lindenwood-Belleville scored a late equalizer with under two minutes remaining in the game.
Neither team was able to score in overtime, resulting in a 2-2 tie.
Sam Schulze made eight saves, four in the first half, three in the second half and one in overtime.
Nickels led the Spartans with four shots on goal. Ashly Wiedenhoffer drilled three shots on goal. Kathryn Foytin, Anna Recer and Hannah McElroy each had two shots on goal.
