ST. LOUIS- The Missouri Baptist women's soccer squad lost a tough match today to McKendree, 2-1. The Spartans drop to 2-3-1 on the season, while the Bearcats improve to 2-1.
The Spartans missed an opportunity to take a very early lead just four minutes into the game when Anna Recer's blast hit the crossbar. The two teams were scoreless after one half of play and Sam Schulze made three saves.
With just over 20 minutes remaining in regulation, the Bearcats took a 1-0 lead when Alyssa Patterson found the back of the net.
Ten minutes later, Cassie Kaiping's goal put McKendree up 2-0.
Missouri Baptist would not go down without a fight as Megan Huffman found Aregll London just outside the box and London drilled a shot past the keeper to draw the Spartans within one goal.
The score ended in a 2-1 Bearcats win, dropping the Spartans to 2-3-1 on the 2013 season.
Schulze made seven saves for the Spartans. Carly Hempel and Aregll London led the Spartans with two shots on goal.
Missouri Baptist will play its first AMC match on September 18 at 11:00 am when they host Lyon.
