ST. LOUIS- A Culver-Stockton first half goal proved to be enough, as the Cougars defeated Missouri Baptist in women's soccer today, 1-0. The Spartans dropped to 5-4-1 on the year and their first loss in four games.
Elizabeth Kahn made her first start of the year in net for MBU and played extremely well. She made five saves during the 90 minutes and allowed just one goal on an all-out rush by the Cougars.
With just three minutes left in the first half, Jordan Sergi found Stephanie Adelmann on the right side of the box. She sent a ball towards the left side of the goal post and before Kahn could complete the diving stop, Brittney McMahon tapped the ball past the goal line, giving CSC the 1-0 lead.
Kahn made four stops in the first half, while the Spartans had just two shots on offense.
In the second half, the Spartans were unable to get the ball towards the goal, as they had zero shots on goal.
Missouri Baptist will take its perfect 3-0 record in AMC play on the road this Saturday at Park. Park has won just one game this season, but that win was against Freed-Hardeman, giving them a 1-0 record in AMC play.
