WONSEWITH CONTINUES SCORING STREAK AS MEN'S SOCCER WINS 2-1

ST. LOUIS- Joe Wonsewith's blazing start to the 2013 season continued tonight as his two goals led the Missouri Baptist men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Central Methodist. The Spartans improved to 3-0-1 on the season.

Corbin Rodriguez earned his third win of the season and kept the Eagles off the scoreboard in the first half with two saves. The Spartans had two shots on goal in the first half, but were held scoreless.

The score stayed 0-0 in the second half before Wonsewith found the back of the net for the fifth time this season with just 17 minutes left in regulation. Missouri Baptist was not able to keep the lead for long, as Central Methodist tied the match up 1-1 with less than five minutes remaining.

One minute and two seconds later, Wonsewith scored the game winner from 20 yards out, his sixth goal of 2013.

Wonsewith led the Spartans with three shots on goal, while Kyle Otec and Oscar Rojas chipped in with one shot on goal each.

Rodriguez faced six shots on goal in the second half and made five saves to preserve the win.

Missouri Baptist will look for win number four when they travel to Greenville College on September 13.
