ST. LOUIS- The Spartan men's volleyball team stayed undefeated with a 3-0 victory over NAIA opponent, Hannibal-LaGrange, Tuesday night.
The first set started with points swapping back and forth until Kevin Knight stepped up to the service line for the Spartans. The junior served three consecutive aces, allowing MBU to pull ahead and gain momentum to finish the first set strong, 25-16.
The second set was hard fought by both the Spartans and Trojans, ending 25-20 in favor of the Spartans. MBU was led by the stellar play of Clayton Baker. The senior outside hitter went five-for-six offensively. Senior middle hitter, Jordan Pinto, also hit a perfect set, going three-for-three.
The Spartans had a very balanced offense in the third set, as each attacker contributed to the cause. There was a change at the libero position as Danny Gruszczyk stepped in for the starter, Travis Collard. Davardo Rolle and Ryan Humiston also entered the game.
The Spartans return to the court Thursday night against Warner University. Due to a conflict on the Missouri Baptist athletics schedule, the home match will be played just down the road at Maryville University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
