ST. LOUIS - [RESULTS] On the eve of the Spartan Open, The Missouri Baptist University women's wrestling team squared off against the Warriors from Midland University. The Spartans only surrendered two matches on the evening as they cruised to a 37-11 victory.
The dual began with two forfeits. Anissa Rodriguez from MBU gained a forfeit victory in the 101 weight class, and Taylor Zboray from Midland was awarded in the 109 weight class. Marylou Martinez won her match in the 116 weight class, followed by back to back pins by Bree Rapoza 123 weight class and Erika Mihalca in the 130 weight class.
In the 136 weight class, Sarah Bollinger defeated her opponent to extend the MBU lead. The Spartans suffered their second and last defeat of the evening in the 143 weight class match when Sonja Grant pinned Marki Simmons. It was all MBU from then on. Brenda Gonzalez was awarded a forfeit in the 155 weight class, followed by an Eileen Hernandez win in the 170 weight class. The dual ended with a pin by Kassandra Castruita in the 191 weight class, and the Spartans won the dual by a final score of 37 to 11.
Missouri Baptist will be in its next action on Saturday as the team will host the 2014 Missouri Baptist Spartan Open. Nine other teams are set to compete beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex on the campus of Missouri Baptist.
