ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist continued its impressive run in the American Midwest Conference and remained undefeated in conference play in 2014 with a 1-0 win over Freed-Hardeman University on Friday.
Missouri Baptist (4-3-3, 4-0-1 AMC) went back and forth with the Lions throughout the first half after both had opportunities to grab a lead. The two squads stayed even, however, as FHU outshout the Spartans 7-6 as they headed to the break knotted at zero.
The fight continued in the final half, but the Spartans grabbed the advantage as Donna Jolliff scored the lone goal of the game and her fifth goal on the season. Though the Spartans put up a fight to net an insurance tally, the single goal held-up as Kathryn Kessler was great in net yet again.
Kessler finished the game with no blemish, holding Freed-Hardeman scoreless with six saves.
The Spartans will return home to play at CBC field on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Missouri Baptist will face AMC opponent Harris-Stowe State University.
