SPARTAN OFFENSE EXPLODES FOR 20 RUNS IN WIN

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCOREWhat a difference a day can make. Just 24 hours separated from lowest point in the Missouri Baptist baseball season in 2014, the Spartans got right back on track. The team collected 20 runs on 24 hits in a 20-4 win at Culver-Stockton College on Wednesday.

Missouri Baptist (34-9) started off slow in Wednesday's non-conference affair, but re-discovered its offense beginning in the third inning. After allowing the Wildcats to take a brief 2-0 lead after two innings, MBU provided some major run support for Colby Duncan in the lopsided win.

Missouri Baptist took a 3-2 lead with a three-run third inning and never looked back. The team followed-up the third with four runs in the fourth, six runs in the sixth, one in the seventh, and six in the ninth to secure the win.

The Spartans used four pitchers on Wednesday as Colby Duncan picked-up his first win in a Spartan uniform. Duncan tossed six innings and allowed four runs on six hits. Chris Kenney, Clinton Graham and Ryan McClaran combined to complete the game for Duncan in relief.

Orlando Olivera, Joe Stropp and Josh Fuentes all went 4-5 in the game as both Stropp and Enrique Pagan went yard in the win. Stropp also led all players with five RBI as the designated hitter.

Fuentes recorded his third triple of the season as the team hit .500 on the day. This is the 23rd game of the season that Missouri Baptist has hit over .300 in a game as a team.

Missouri Baptist will now return home to face Hannibal-LaGrange in an AMC showdown over the weekend. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
