ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist women's soccer found continued success in the American Midwest Conference with a win over Lyon College on Wednesday, 4-1.
Missouri Baptist (3-3-1, 3-0) posted the first goal of the day as Donna Jolliff found the back of the net and gave her team the first lead of the game. The Scots, however, answered with the equalizer later in the half. Anna Waldman posted the lone Lyon goal in the 43rd minute, but just moments later, the Spartans regained the lead. Jolliff added her second tally on the board just 71 seconds later to give MBU the lead heading into the break.
The Spartans continued their offensive strength in the second half. Chanel Thorpe made it a 3-1 game in favor of Missouri Baptist just 4:26 into the second half. Megan Allen added the final insurance goal to give Missouri Baptist a 4-1 victory on the road. It was the third consecutive win for MBU and the third conference win for the team after starting the year 0-3-1.
Kathryn Kessler was again strong for the Spartans. The Evansville University transfer recorded five saves and allowed just the one goal after playing all 90 minutes in the contest.
With the wins, Missouri Baptist stays in first place overall in the AMC and will be looking for its first non-conference victory on Saturday when Central Methodist comes to town. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at CBC Field.
