WOMEN'S SOCCER BREAKS EVEN IN TIE AGAINST WILLIAM WOODS

ST. LOUIS - [BOX SCORE]  The Missouri Baptist women's soccer team held the William Woods Owls to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday as the Spartans remained undefeated in AMC play in 2014.

William Woods (3-4-1, 2-0-1) started off hot in the first half and scored within the opening eight minutes.  MBU's Kathryn Kessler held the Owls to one goal as Missouri Baptist (3-3-1, 3-0-1) was outshot 7-3 in the first 45 minutes.

The Spartans snapped back into action in the second half and posted six shots to WWU five. Sophomore Mary Lee scored the equalizing goal, her fourth of the season, at the one hour mark.

The teams advanced to overtime to resolve the tie. William Woods took the offensive advantage in effort to find net, but Kessler denied all attempts to keep the match knotted at zero through the first of two, 10 minutes extra periods.

The game continued to the second overtime with another chance for MBU to take the lead.  Missouri Baptist outshot William Woods 4-0 in the final ten minutes, but to no avail the game closed on a 1-1 draw.

The Spartans will continue conference play as they travel to Freed-Hardeman University on Friday, October 3, 2014.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Henderson, Tenn.
