ST. LOUIS – The American Midwest Conference announced that Spartan goalkeeper Alex Lair won this week's Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award.

Lair, a sophomore, made 11 saves on the week while allowing only two goals in a pair of 1-0 losses to Lindenwood-Belleville and Ashford University. The Winnipeg, CA native currently ranks fourth in the conference with 7.89 saves per game and has only allowed eight goals in her last seven games in net.

Although the Spartans lost both matches, Lair's play kept the team in close contention against their competitors. Against LU-B, the only goal she surrendered was on a penalty kick to Blanca Gomez, this week's AMC Offensive Player of the Week.
