ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist surrendered two second-half goals and couldn't get one of its 22 shots into the net Tuesday afternoon in a 2-0 loss to Harris-Stowe State University.
The Spartans (2-10) allowed goals in the 54th and 79th minute. Yousseff Jacon gave the Hornets the 1-0 lead with his goal less than 10 minutes into the second half. Alex Ponder's insurance goal in the 79thminute halted virtually any possibility of a Spartan comeback.
Missouri Baptist outshot Harris-Stowe 22-13, but couldn't capitalize on its scoring chances. The Spartans had 11 shots in each half and five total corner kicks. One of their best chances came in the 31st minute when Connar Armstrong hit the post.
Gerrardo Espinoza and Armstrong led the way with seven and four shots respectively. Benjamin Randolph registered three shots on goal.
The Spartans return home on Saturday when they face St. Louis College of Pharmacy.
