Box Score ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist baseball made it four in a row to start the 2015 season on Thursday. The Spartans piled-on 11 runs against the No. 1-ranked Cumberland University and grabbed an 11-2 win at the Belhaven University Invitational.
Missouri Baptist (4-0) got sound hitting up and down the lineup on Thursday to earn its fourth win in a blowout over the No. 1 team in the nation.
Dave Mullins earned his first victory of the year after receiving a no-decision in his first start a week ago at William Carey University. Mullins allowed one run on five hits while he walked just one and struck-out seven.
Missouri Baptist broke the 0-0 tie in the fourth with a two-run top-half. They followed with two more in the fifth and one in the sixth to make it 5-0 heading into the seventh.
Eli Roundtree hit his first home run of the season in the seventh after Orlando Olivera singled to lead things off. Roundtree finished the day with two RBI and went 2-3 with two walks.
Spartan slugger Orlando Olivera recorded his first multi-hit game of the year. The Preseason NAIA All-American finished 2-5 at the plate with two runs scored. On the whole, five players from Missouri Baptist finished with two hits on the day.
The Spartans will be back at it again on Friday as they will take-on invitational host and No. 14-ranked Belhaven University. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
