Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE G1] [BOX SCORE G2] Missouri Baptist baseball dealt Lourdes University its first two losses of the season on Wednesday in back-to-back wins, 14-1 and 12-0.
Missouri Baptist (15-1, 3-0 AMC) stayed red hot at the plate on Wednesday as the team powered 14 run across the plate in game one. The Spartans recorded six runs in both the first and third innings and allowed just two Gray Wolves' hits in the game.
Orlando Olivera, Eli Roundtree and Aaron Collazo all homered in the game and led the Spartans to their 14th win of the season. Olivera and Collazo accounted for nine of the team's 14 RBI in the game.
Colby Duncan looked solid in his first start and first innings of the season. The senior tossed six innings and allowed one run on two hits on the way to his first win of the season.
Game two started slow, but the offense picked-up in the sixth. The Spartans were up 3-0 before the team exploded for nine runs on three hits and finished the game in the seventh as Max Osnowitz held the Gray Wolves scoreless to preserve the win.
Brent Zimmerman went 2-3 in game two while Jeff Smith and Justin Boman combined for four RBI in the contest.
Joel Duggins got the start in the final game of the day and cruised through four and one-third innings. Duggins allowed just three hits and recorded four strikeouts in his outing to grab his first win in a Spartan uniform.
MBU will complete the midweek series on Thursday as the same two teams will meet-up for two, seven inning games. First pitch in game one is scheduled for noon at Spartan Field.
