Box Score ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist's Aaron Collazo had a good day… two home runs and five RBI good. The Spartan second baseman went 3-4 with five RBI and a grand slam in an 18-6 rout of Missouri Valley College on Tuesday.
Missouri Baptist (34-8, 16-7 AMC) jumped-out to a quick 2-0 lead after one inning and continued to push runs across the plate throughout the game.
Tim Cusick recorded a sacrifice fly in the first inning to plate the first run for the Spartans and later homered in the third as Missouri Baptist scored runs in bunches. Later in the third, Aaron Collazo posted his first career grand slam and gave MBU an 8-2 lead after three.
With a 9-5 lead after four innings, Missouri Baptist hung another crooked number on the Vikings. Brent Zimmerman hit an RBI double and Eli Roundtree followed with a two RBI single and recorded the first three runs of the inning. Justin Boman was responsible for the final three. The third baseman smacked a three-run home run to right center field and made it a 15-5 Spartan advantage.
Collazo led-off in the sixth with his second round-tripper of the game as Missouri Baptist rolled to the big non-conference victory.
In addition to Collazo, six Spartan batters recorded a multi-hit game. Boman was responsible for three hits, three runs scored and four RBI while Brian Poupore, Jeff Smith, Eli Roundtree and Tim Cusick all had a two-hit day.
With the win, Missouri Baptist will head into the final weekend conference series with William Woods on a two-game win streak. First pitch on Friday is currently set for 3:00 p.m., but impending inclement weather may impact the weekend schedule. Stay tuned to MBUSpartans.com for more information.
