Box Score ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] On senior day at Missouri Baptist, senior starting pitcher Dave Mullins found out what it is to be perfect. The Ballwin, Mo., native threw a perfect game against William Woods (Mo.) in a 10-0 victory on Saturday.
Missouri Baptist (35-10, 16-9 AMC) posted 10 runs on the day and grabbed a big win on getaway day in the series against the Owls, but the day belonged to Mullins.
The left-handed starter made the most of his start on Saturday and put together a masterful performance. Mullins recorded seven strikeouts and allowed no base runners on the day.
On the offensive side, the Spartans got runs in bunches. The team recorded five in the second inning and four in the fourth to give their hurler a sizeable advantage.
The heart of the Spartan order was outstanding as well. Brent Zimmerman, Orlando Olivera, Eli Roundtree and Aaron Pangilinan accounted for eight of the teams' 10 RBI.
Mullins' feat on Saturday was the first time since 2004 that the Spartans have recorded a no-hitter.
Missouri Baptist has just one game remaining in the regular season before the American Midwest Conference Tournament next week. The team will face Harris-Stowe (Mo.) on Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Spartan Field.
