SPARTANS IMPROVE TO 4-1 IN CONFERENCE WITH WIN OVER EUTECTICS

Box Score

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist took charge from the start and cruised to a 2-0 win over St. Louis College of Pharmacy to improve to 4-1 in conference play.

The win marks the third time in four years the Spartans (6-4, 4-1) have won four of their first five conference matches. On Saturday, MBU limited the Eutectics to just one shot, while compiling 21 of their own.

A quick start helped the Spartans put their stamp on the game. Freshman Riley Janvrin scored in the 3rdminute off a corner kick from Danielle Wilde for her second career goal. The 1-0 score held firm for the remainder of the half until the Spartans put together a similar story in the second half.

Alyssa Matz scored nine minutes into the second half to double the MBU lead. It was the sophomore's second goal of the year. St. Louis College of Pharmacy didn't manage a shot in the second half, as the Spartans kept the pressure on.

Alexis Turner, Danielle Wilde, Alyssa Matz and Alexandra Heinz led the shot parade with three shots each. Alex Lair picked up the shutout in the win, her fourth of the season.

The Spartans now have a week off before taking on Williams Baptist in conference action from CBC Field. The match is set to start at 4:00 pm.
