Box Score ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Tiffany Weaver's goal in the 20th minute lifted the Columbia Cougars past Missouri Baptist 1-0 and into the AMC Finals against Park University. The loss ended the Spartans season with 12 wins, the most since 2009.
Danielle Wilde nearly put MBU up about 20 minutes in when the ball found her deep inside the box off a cross. The sophomore's powerful shot toward net couldn't quite get past Columbia keeper Flavia Rosado.
Columbia answered a few moments later when Katelyn Palmer crossed a ball into Weaver, who shot with her right foot past Alex Lair and into the net. The Cougars managed to get one past her, but the junior goalie Lair had a monster game. Columbia had several scoring chances throughout the game, especially early on, and the junior made several nice saves- 10 in total. The Cougars outshot MBU 27-7 for the game. Jackie Hagan also had a shot on goal in the first half.
The Spartans looked to net the equalizer throughout the second half, but Rosado and the Cougars shutdown each of their attempts. Columbia outshot the Spartans 12-2 in the final 45 minutes and were on the lookout for an insurance goal. Lair made sure that didn't happen and gave the offense the opportunity to tie the game.
Janvrin had a few shots on goal in the final 15 minutes, as the Spartans tried to net the equalizer. She led the way for MBU with three total shots. Rosado picked up the shutout for CC, her ninth straight.
MBU ends their season with a 12-7 record overall and a 9-3 mark in conference play. Seniors Lauren Krebs and Mackenzie Hoelscher played in their final game as a Spartan tonight.
