SPARTANS BRING BROOMS TO FULTON

Box Score

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – [BOX SCOREThe Missouri Baptist Baseball offense was decidedly efficient on Tuesday. The Spartans put together a display at the plate in the finale of the American Midwest Conference series against William Woods (Mo.) in a 14-8 victory in Fulton, Mo.

Missouri Baptist (17-6, 5-1 AMC) took command in the first inning and never let go of its grasp of the game. The Spartans posted four runs in the first and led by as many as nine in the game heading into the bottom of the eighth.

The Spartans did all of its damage in the first inning with two outs. Brian Poupore reached on an error and came around to score the game's first run as Missouri Baptist collected four straight hits and scored four runs.

As Kevin Long rolled early, the Spartan bats put more runs on the board for their starter. With two outs in the third, Missouri Baptist's Angel Cruz began the two-out offense with a single. An error, however, made things interesting in Fulton yet again.

Three more runs crossed the plate, all unearned, as the Spartans strung together three straight hits to blow the game wide open.
