Box Score ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist dominated from start to finish Friday afternoon in the team's home opener. The Spartans topped Brescia University 9-0 behind a hat trick from Monica Robinson and two goals apiece by Haylee Eastridge and Danielle Wilde.
The navy and white controlled the match from the get-go and didn't allow the Bearcats to fire off a single shot. MBU outshot Brescia 46-0 for the game with 23 shots each half.
Sophomore Alyssa Matz started the scoring barrage with a goal in the 12th minute. From there, MBU never looked back as they fired shot after shot at Brescia keeper Jerrica Kidd. Several came close to sneaking by and eight more eventually did before the final whistle blew.
Illinois State transfer Haylee Eastridge scored two goals in her first career home game. Eastridge fired off seven shots (six on goal) and found the net in the 18th and 31st minute. Both came off feeds from sophomore Danielle Wilde.
The duo then decided to reverse roles in the six-goal second half. Eastridge assisted Wilde on a goal in the 49th minute right after halftime. The goal was one of Wilde's two of the day, the other putting MBU up 5-0 in the 64th minute.
That started a rapid scoring run for the Spartans in which they netted three goals in a minute span. Monica Robinson scored her first goal as a Spartan in the 65th minute and Megan Allen added another seconds later.
The junior Robinson, a transfer from Kaskaskia Community College, put on an offensive showcase in the second half. She scored again in the 82nd minute to put the Spartans ahead 8-0 and put the cherry on top with a strike into the net with roughly thirty seconds left to complete her hat trick.
The Spartans will look to keep the offense rolling tomorrow against Benedictine College. The match is set to start at 2:00 pm.
