Box Score ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] A big first inning sealed the fate of Missouri Baptist on Saturday. The Spartans dropped a four-spot on Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) in the top of the first and grabbed an 9-2 win in the final American Midwest Conference Regular Season game of the year.
Missouri Baptist (35-12, 24-6 AMC) plated four runs in the first, capped-off with a big home run from Chad Ramsey, and posted another big series win in the AMC.
Culver Plant doubled to score Aaron Collazo before Ramsey belted his team-leading 10th homerun of the season. Ramsey drove a 1-0 pitch over the wall in right to hand his team a 4-0 lead.
The Spartans posted another run in the fifth and ended with a four-run outburst in the ninth to seal the deal. With the win, Missouri Baptist secured the No. 1 overall seed at next week's AMC Championship Tournament.
Missouri Baptist had six players end their day with two hits. Aaron Collazo, Plant, Drew Kitson, Chad Ramsey, Austin Rieman and Brandon Schlichtig all had two base knocks, with one of those for Kitson a three-bagger.
Mike Syrett collected the win on the day. He is now 6-1 on the season.
