DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Missouri Baptist University men's track & field team got things off on the right foot in the first meet of 2022 at the St. Ambrose University Bumble Rumble. In fact, the Spartans rumbled to the tune of 18 collegiate PRs, a pair of first place finishes and one NAIA 'A' standard.
As the Spartans have become accustomed to during the past four years, senior
Jordan Crawford didn't disappoint in the 3000-meter race walk where he bettered his previous PR by more than 25 seconds, clocking in at 12:26.33. With his performance at the Bumble Rumble, Crawford sits atop of the NAIA Top Performances List and ahead of Dean Freitag (Indiana Tech) by 24 seconds.
Joining Crawford with a top-of-podium finish was distance runner
Donovan Denslow, who raced to first place in the 800-meter run (2:01.65). Denslow, a transfer from Mineral Area College, also picked up a runner-up finish on Friday in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:26.56.
Additional top-10 finishers from MBU included
Trey Peugeot and
Wyatt Elliott. The distance duo finished fifth and sixth respectively in the 3000-meter run, with the former recording a PR of 9:11.38 and the latter finishing right behind him at 9:12.05.
Other notable performances included
D'Angelo Cartwright (12
th out of 52) in the 60-meter dash,
Brayden Bauman (16
th out of 63) in the 200-meter dash and JP Killian (14
th of 32) in the 1-mile run.
The team will be back in action next weekend at the nearby Principia College Relays in Elsah, Ill., which is also home to the 2022 AMC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, Feb. 19.
