Missouri Baptist University track and field competed in two meets over the weekend, sending athletes to the Illinois College Jim Green Invitational and the Indiana Wesleyan University Midwest Classic.
IWU Midwest Classic – Men
James Kelly led the Spartans in the hurdles, placing third in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.48 seconds after qualifying in 8.59 during the preliminaries.
In the field events,
Brett Drye turned in one of Missouri Baptist's top performances of the meet, earning a runner-up finish in the long jump with a best mark of 7.06 meters.
Kaileb Rhen also competed in the throws, placing 17th in the shot put with a mark of 13.04 meters.
Josiah Heras paced the Spartans in the 600 meters, finishing fifth overall with a time of 1:24.57, while
Lucas Cristo Sa followed in 10th at 1:28.46. In the 1,000 meters,
Alex Shields recorded an eighth-place finish in 2:34.73, followed by
Wyatt Claiborne in 14th at 2:38.82 and
Ethan Bliss in 23rd at 2:41.40.
The Spartans showed depth in the distance events, led by
Nick Fehr's fourth-place finish in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:51.05.
Steven Aguilar followed close behind in sixth at 8:52.35, while
David Fletcher rounded out the group with a 10th-place finish in 9:09.32.
In the mile,
Grant Patten led Missouri Baptist with a sixth-place finish, crossing the line in 4:24.23.
Clayton Schneider also competed in the event, placing 18th with a time of 4:33.54.
In the sprints,
Brandin Dodd and Drye competed in the 60-meter preliminaries, posting times of 7.20 and 7.26, respectively.
IWU Midwest Classic – Women
In the sprints,
TaMari Allen competed in the 60-meter preliminaries, posting a time of 8.19 seconds.
Rosario Garro Cortes in the 400 meters turned in a runner-up finish with a time of 1:01.22.
MBU saw solid results in the middle-distance events, led by
Adrienne Rockette's 10th-place finish in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:08.88.
Mattie Noyes followed in 14th, crossing the line in 3:15.71.
In the distance races,
Isabella Aimonette recorded a third-place finish in the 3,000 meters, posting a time of 10:23.66.
Alyssa Collins also competed in the 5,000 meters, finishing 14th overall in 19:44.85.
Carly Roussin represented the Spartans in the hurdles, clocking a 9.85 in the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries.
MBU was led by Allen's fifth-place finish in the long jump in the field, with a best mark of 5.05 meters. Roussin added an eighth-place finish in the event, clearing 4.87 meters.
Jim Green Invitational – Women
In the sprints,
Julianne Hansen led the Spartans in the 60 meters, clocking an 8.62 in the preliminaries.
Alley Busch also competed in the event, finishing in 8.85.
The Spartans showed depth in the 800 meters, led by
Lindsey Mueller's eighth-place finish in a time of 2:30.69.
Tabitha Bryant followed in 13th at 2:35.97, while
Lizzie Burgan placed 14th in 2:38.13.
Allie England rounded out the group with a 15th-place finish in 2:39.61.
Camrin Watkins paced Missouri Baptist in the mile, earning a fourth-place finish with a time of 5:38.04.
In the 3,000 meters,
Julia Whorton led the Spartans with a 10th-place finish, crossing the line in 11:09.16.
Haley Hernandez followed in 13th at 11:20.13, while
Noelle Reed (11:57.69) and
Lillian Harris (12:28.31) also competed.
Kenleigh Lange represented MBU in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a time of 10.68 in the preliminaries.
Missouri Baptist also recorded a top-five finish in the women's 4x400-meter relay, as the quartet of
Tabitha Bryant,
Lindsey Mueller, Elizabeth Burgan, and
Camrin Watkins placed fifth with a time of 4:34.47.
In the field events,
Brooke Lunsford delivered one of the Spartans' top performances of the meet, finishing third in the long jump with a best mark of 5.19 meters. Lange added a 21st-place finish at 4.22 meters, while Busch recorded a mark of 3.98 meters.
Emma Lawson rounded out the women's results with an eighth-place finish in the weight throw, posting a best mark of 13.91 meters.
Jim Green Invitational – Men
In the sprints,
Elias Newberry led the Spartans in the 60 meters, finishing 21st overall with a time of 7.34.
Malakai Mays followed in 30th at 7.41, while
Canaan Patterson (7.47),
Jerome Williams (7.54),
Jesiah Morris (7.67),
Dylan Morrison (7.74), and
Hayden Molina (7.74) also competed in the event.
Morrison paced Missouri Baptist in the 200 meters with a time of 24.52, placing 30th overall. Williams followed in 36th at 24.82, with Newberry (25.20), Mays (25.27), and Molina (25.71) rounding out the Spartan finishers.
William Manning led the Spartans in the 400 meters, posting a fifth-place finish with a time of 52.83.
In the middle-distance events, Samuel Bland represented Missouri Baptist in the 800 meters, finishing 15th in 2:07.99.
Dylan Coleman competed in the mile, crossing the line in 4:48.66.
The Spartans saw multiple entries in the 3,000 meters, led by
Brandon Etheridge's 11th-place finish in 9:14.38.
Ian Moore followed in 17th at 9:29.71, while
Caedmon Cook placed 20th in 9:33.53 and Zachary Klug finished 36th in 10:50.07.
Missouri Baptist also posted a top-five finish in the men's 4x200-meter relay, as the quartet of
Malakai Mays,
Canaan Patterson,
Jesiah Morris, and
Jerome Williams placed fifth with a time of 1:38.77.
In the field events,
Jordan Walker-Wright led the Spartans with a fourth-place finish in the shot put, recording a best mark of 14.54 meters. He also turned in a standout performance in the weight throw, placing third with a top throw of 15.70 meters.
Collin Hutson added a 12th-place finish in the weight throw at 14.22 meters, while
Warren Gann (13.61m),
Logan Howard (12.17m),
Lester Jenkins (11.41m), and Joseph Roach (10.14m) also competed.
In the jumps,
Beckham Armstrong paced Missouri Baptist in the long jump with a mark of 5.85 meters, while
Jerome Williams recorded a best leap of 5.70 meters. Patterson added a mark of 10.93 meters in the triple jump to round out the Spartan field performances.
