Missouri Baptist Posts Strong Weekend at SLU, WashU Meets

Missouri Baptist University men's and women's track and field delivered a weekend of strong distance performances across two meets, highlighted by a victory and a podium finish at the SLU Billiken Invitational and the Washington University Distance Carnival.


WashU Distance Carnival:

Missouri Baptist University distance runners competed across multiple events at the Washington University Distance Carnival, highlighted by a podium finish and several solid efforts at Washington University in St. Louis.

In the women's 5,000 meters, senior Adrienne Rockette led Missouri Baptist with a 48th-place finish in 12:01.19, competing in a deep field.

On the men's side, MBU had multiple competitors in the 5,000 meters, led by junior Steven Aguilar, who crossed in 97th place with a time of 15:05.87. Nicholas Fehr followed in 247th at 15:51.19.

Missouri Baptist also saw action in the distance events throughout the meet, continuing to build experience against a competitive field that featured NCAA Division I and II programs.

Billiken Invitational:

Missouri Baptist University track and field turned in a strong showing at the SLU Billiken Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by a win and multiple top-six finishes at Saint Louis University.

Freshman Alyssa Collins led the way for the Spartans, capturing the women's 5,000 meters title in 19:05.69. Collins pulled away late to secure the victory and earn 10 team points.

Camrin Watkins turned in the top performance of the meet for the Spartans, placing third in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 13:18.26 to earn six team points.

MBU placed three runners in the top six of the events, as senior Haley Hernandez finished fourth in 19:18.01 and freshman Noelle Reed took sixth in 19:23.68.

In the women's 4x100 relay, the Spartans' A team of Brooke Lunsford, Julianne Hansen, Carly Roussin, and TaMari Allen finished fifth overall with a time of 51.10.

On the track in the women's 1,500 meters, Allie England posted the top finish for MBU, placing 28th overall in 5:25.13. Elizabeth Burgan followed in 33rd (5:33.14), while Lillian Harris rounded out the group in 37th (5:39.87).

On the men's side, Ethan Bliss paced Missouri Baptist in the 1,500 meters, finishing 19th in 4:09.08. Alvin Wible crossed in 20th at 4:11.55, while Caedmon Cook (4:19.04) and Ian Moore (4:20.13) also competed for the Spartans.


The Spartans will be back in action this week, competing in the True Blue Invite and the Joey Haynes Invitational.
