ST. LOUIS- Missouri Baptist University Women's Wrestling held its first home match of the season with a Tri-Dual against Quincy University and Fontbonne University.
The first match of the night was between MBU and Quincy, starting off with the 123-pound weight class as the 101 and 116 classes were left open and
Alyssa Quezaire won by default for the 109.
Riley White represented the Spartans at 123-pounds in a tough bout but ultimately lost to her opponent by decision. Taryn Jones followed White at 130-pounds where she also fell to her opponent by decision putting the score at 7-6, MBU.
The Spartans started to gain moment in the next match up with
Tiyahna Askew who was able to pin her opponent in 43 seconds in the 136-pound match up, bringing the score to 12-6. At 155-pounds
Josette Partney was able take down her opponent quickly with a big throw in the first few seconds of the match and tidied things up with a 10-0 tech fall win in the first period.
Anastasia Hardin kept things going for the Spartans at 170-pounds. Ending the first period 8-0 with a throw of her own, Hardin went on to win the match in the second period by tech fall, 14-0, after a pushout and another throw.
Shania Gowan wrapped things up nicely for the Spartans. After a minor injury at the beginning, she went on to pin her opponent at 2:43 in the first period. Spartans were victorious this match with a 32-6 win against Quincy.
Quincy went on to defeat Fontbonne in the next match of the night, 28-2.
The final match up was between MBU and Fontbonne. The match flew by with only two weight classes actually wrestling.
Riley White and
Anastasia Hardin were back in action, the former falling to her opponent while the later had an 11-0 tech fall victory securing the 34-5 win against the Griffins. Â

Up next for the Spartans is the Waldorf University Open on Nov. 12 in Forest City, Iowa.
