LAS VEGAS – Trekking out to Las Vegas for a pair of Tier 1 tournaments to end the Fall semester, the Missouri Baptist University men's bowling team finished 30
th out of 47 teams at the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational on Monday.
The Spartans had an up and down ride in the qualifying rounds. Ranked 15
th after two games of 931 and 964, others began to catch MoBap in games 3 through 7. The Spartans delivered their best yet in Game 8 with 1,032 pins before bowling an 869 in the final game.
With 45+ teams in the varsity men's division, the Top 16 earned spots in the single-elimination team Baker finals. No. 4 seed University of Tennessee Southern defeated No. 2 seed Wichita State University to take home the men's team title.
A large contributor in the Spartans' successes was
Seth Harris, who finished 17
th overall out of 377 participants. Averaging 205.80 across the nine games, Harris totaled 1,852 pins and was just 29 pins off a Top-10 finish. The Columbia, Ill. senior bowled five games above 200 including games of 229, 226, 235, 205 and 246.
Two more Spartans broke through into the Top 100 and finished within 16 pins of one another.
Hunter Jones was MBU's No. 2 finisher averaging 189.90 pins to place 63
rd overall. Teammate Like Jones,
Noah Middendorf also had three 200+ games and placed 66
th with a 188.10 average.
