WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Back in action for the third straight weekend, the Missouri Baptist University men's track & field team collected two Top-10 finishes, three Top-20 finishes, and near double-digit PRs on Friday at the ever-popular UCM Mule Relays.
Reigning AMC Field Athlete of the Week
Mayson DeRousse had the highest finished among Spartans tying for third in the pole vault. DeRousse registered a top jump of 4.85m but failed to clear the next height of 5.00m.
MBU's other Top-10 finish came in the 4x400 relay, which consisted of
Ian Lee Heung,
Camden Woolbright, DeRousse, and TJ Lawson. The Spartans finished 10
th overall and second among NAIA schools just behind AMC rival Columbia.
Lee Heung and Wyatt were the next highest finishers taking 11
th in the in triple jump and 10,000-meter run, respectively. Eliott dropped more than a minute and ½ from the last time he ran the 10,000 (2021 CMU Invite). The sophomore transfer crossed the finish line in 32:16.08.
Senior Trey Peugout finished right behind Elliott in the 10,000, and like Elliott, took off 1-minute, 30 seconds from his last 10,000-meter performance.
Three Spartan competitors PR'ed in multiple events including
Christian Kafoury, Charlie McCallister, and
Jordan Walker-Wright. Kafoury and McCallister each set new personal bests in the 800-meter and 1500-meter runs. Freshman thrower
Jordan Walker-Wright had a great weekend in Warrensburg grabbing two PRs in the discus (39.23m) and hammer throw (40.35m).
The Spartans won't go far for their next competition heading to Lindenwood University's Dick Cochran Classic on Saturday, April 23.
