HENDERSON, TENN. - The Spartan Women's Golf team struggled at the FHU Fall Invitational hosted by Freed-Hardeman University at Chickasaw Golf Club in Henderson, Tenn. on Monday and Tuesday. Their combined 162 (738) strokes over par claimed 9
th place out of 10 teams at the tournament.
Individually, MBU placed one golfer in the Top 20, as sophomore
Sophia Welch ended the two-day tournament with a score of 169 (+25) which was good for a tie for 19
th place.
Consistency was the name of the game for the Spartans. Each of the six Spartans who entered had a differential of no more than five strokes from the first to the second round. Graduate student
Carlie Van Patten finished in a tie for 34
th place with scores of 93 and 89 in the first and second rounds respectively. Three other Spartans finished within two strokes of each other as freshman
Chelsea Young was all alone in 43
rd place with a 194, while freshman
Ryen Tindall and sophomore
Lauren Ice were both just one shot back and tied for 44
th with a +51. Additionally, freshman
Brooklyn Howard scored only four strokes higher on day 2.
Bethel College (Tenn.) won the tournament with a combined score of 653, or +77.
The Spartan women are right back at it next Monday when they participate in the Cougar Classic at Columbia Country Club in Columbia, Mo. Conference foe Columbia College is the host of that tournament.
