PITTSBURG, Kan.- Men's track and field took on a total of 20 teams this past Saturday (Nov 21) at the NAIA/JUCO Challenge hosted by Pittsburg State University where they placed seventh overall.
The Spartans had many standout performances from this meet, the first coming from
Donovan Denslow who excels in long distance races. While he did well in the 800 meter run, taking seventh out of 29 with a time of 1:58.29, Denslow showed what he was made of in the mile run, placing first out of 32. Denslow set another personal record this year with a mile time of 4:19.07. Wyatt Elliot, who also competed in the mile time set a new PR as well with a time of 4:47.05, taking 12
th place.
Camden Woolbright was another of the Spartans to place in the top three in their event. He surpassed his personal record for the pole vault from the last meet and landed a new height of 3.95 meters, taking second place. Woolbright also took part in the 60 meter hurdles where he finished fifth with a time of 8.70 out of 19 runners.
Rounding out the top three finishes was the men's 4 x 800 meter relay team. The team made up of
David Fletcher,
Josiah Heras,
Aubrey Morris, and
Wyatt Elliott finished second behind Oklahoma City.
Jordan Walker-Wright finished in the top ten of the shot put, placing seventh with a distance of 13.30m, not far from the fifth and sixth place throwers.
There were plenty of personal records to go around this meet.
Jack Warmann set a PR in the mile with a time of 4:55.98 along with Charlie McCallister who was timed at 5:08.28.
Keon Graham was able to set two new PRs in the 400 meter dash and 60 meter hurdles with times of 54.83 and 9.06 respectively.
Warren Gann also set a couple new PRs in the shot put and weight throw, with distances of 10.84 meters and 11.52 meters.
Collin Hutson continued this trend and set his own new PRs in shot put and weight throw with distances of 11.86m and 12.81m.
The Spartans will be back in action on Jan 27 for the Principia College Relays.
