CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — On Saturday (Jan. 13), the Missouri Baptist University Women's Track and Field team participated in eight track and field events, placing fourth among the nine participating teams from universities including Lindenwood (NCAA Division I) and Missouri S&T (NCAA Division II). 

Individuals on the team found great success in both the track and field competitions. 

Junior Alaina Scott soared past her opponents and claimed first place in the pole vault contest. She also set an impressive personal record of 3.50 meters, which is .10 more than her last PR. 

Another Spartan pole vaulter, Ashley Grothaus, vaulted herself into second place with a distance of 2.90 meters. 

Multi-sport athletes, Mia Reed and Angela Ward, performed extremely well in the mile run and 400 meter race. 

Reed earned herself third place out of 12 after running a 5:21:67 mile, and Ward charged into fifth place with a time of 1:03:93 in the 400 meter. 

Reed and Ward, along with Adrienne Rockette and Emily Farchmin, took third place in the 4 x 400 meter relay. This speedy team finished the race with a time of 4:22:70.

Farchmin (10:54:00) also displayed an outstanding performance in the 3000 meter, earning herself third place.

Freshman Hannah Hiers (7.66) made her 55 meter debut, where she took first in her fleet and 11th out of 30 overall. 

Women's track and field are prepared for their next meet after celebrating their victories from this past weekend. They will compete again on Saturday (Jan. 20) at the IC Snowbird Invite hosted by Illinois College in Jackson, Ill.
