ESLAH, Ill. — The Missouri Baptist University Women's Track and Field team dominated the Principia Relays on Friday (Jan. 26) and Saturday (Jan. 27).
The women's 4x800 relay consisting of Emily Farchmin, Adrienne Rockette, Mia Reed, and Angela Ward turned in a time of 9:41:32, qualifying for Indoor Nationals with an NAIA 'A' standard. The Spartans took first place at the Relays, and they now own the seventh fastest time in the NAIA.
Junior Alaina Scott (3.45 m) placed first in the women's pole vault and hit an NAIA 'B' standard. Fellow junior Ashley Grothaus (3.00 m) took third place out of 14 competitors.
Freshman Hannah Hiers finished fourth in the women's 200 meter dash, setting a personal record of 27.25. In the same event, Laine Cottrell (28.01) and Julianne Hansen (28.30) placed eighth and 15th out of 39.
Hiers (8.01) and Cottrell (8.38) also performed well in the women's 60 meter dash, taking sixth and 20th out of 44 runners.
Placing high in two other events at the Relays, Hiers wrapped up her weekend with another 4th place finish in the women's 300 meter dash.
Sophomore Lillian Harris (6:09:15) took 12th out of 27 in the women's mile run as well.
Next, women's T&F will head to Marion, Ind. on Friday (Feb. 2) to participate in the IWU Midwest Classic starting at 10:00 AM.
