CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The No. 10-ranked Missouri Baptist University women's wrestling team improved their stock at the NWCA/USMC Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships finishing seventh overall after coming in as the No. 16 seed. The elite competition in Cedar Falls was a litmus test for what's ahead at the 2024 NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championships in March.
On Saturday, Missouri Baptist dropped its first match of Day Two to No. 3 Grand View University, 30-14, but rebounded from the setback and closed out the dual meet championships with a nice 25-21 victory against No. 12 University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).
Sophomore standouts
Alyssa Quezaire and
Juliana Diaz went 5-0 in their matches supporting their spots in the Top of the latest NAIA individual rankings. Quezaire improved to 21-3 on the year and Diaz also reached 20 wins on the season, moving to 20-5 overall.
The jam-packed second semester continues on Wednesday with a dual at NCAA Division III Fontbonne University and Saturday at the Lakeland University Scramble in Plymouth, Wisconsin.

Much like Friday's duals, Quezaire and Diaz gave the Spartans an early boost against the Vikings as each recorded a ranked win by way of a 10-0 tech fall. Quezaire took down No. 13 Jalen Bets at 101 pounds while Diaz defeated sixth-ranked Cailin Campbell.
At 155,
Josette Partney squared off with Mahealani Ramirez, who shares the No. 12 ranking. Partney won the head-to-head on Saturday with a 6-2 win. Three other Spartans picked up points in their matches including
Janiah Jones,
Tiyahna Askew, and
Emma Schreiber. Both Jones and Askew came up just one point short in their respective matches as Jones fell 6-5 to Maya Davis, ranked No. 3 at 123 lbs., and Askew dropped a 5-4 decision to No. 6 Madison Diaz.

To kick things off against Cumberlands, Alyssa Queziare capped off her red-hot weekend with a pin of Elizabeth Dosado, who's ranked No. 3 at 109.
At 109,
Alyssa King had an 8-6 lead on 13
th-ranked Gracie Elliott, but was on the wrong side of a pin with under a minute remaining in the final period.
No. 7-ranked
Juliana Diaz picked up another 10-0 tech fall win, this time with No. 16 Presley Anderson as her latest target.
Trailing by one after the first four weight classes, freshmen
Chloe Herrick and
Janiah Jones helped regain the lead for MBU with a pin and 10-0 victory at 130 and 136. The Spartans got the points they needed to fend off the Patriots at 155 pounds and 170 pounds.
Anastasia Hardin registered a 10-0 tech fall win followed by another ranked win for
Josette Partney, who downed No. 8 Saiheron Preciado-Meza, 6-2.
