ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University men's soccer defeated Central Baptist College, 3-0, on Tuesday afternoon for the team's fourth straight victory.
Led by goals from Marko Dordevic, Edvin Mahmutovic, and Craig Moore, the Spartans outlasted the Mustangs, improving to 8-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Pawel Wolny earned the victory and the shutout for the Spartans, recording three saves. The sophomore lowered his goals-against average (GAA) to an impressive 1.00 following the afternoon's contest.
MBU controlled the pace of play throughout, outshooting CBC 23-5 in the victory.
The Mustangs committed 14 fouls, while eight were charged to MBU. The Spartans received two yellow cards, and CBC was issued five.
In the 17th minute, Dordevic scored his 11th goal of the season, assisted by Moore, to give MBU a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Mahmutovic scored in his fourth straight game to extend the Spartans' lead to 2-0 in the 58th minute. Moore added his first goal of the season in the 68th minute to seal the win for MBU.
The Spartans (8-5) return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19, against No. 16 Columbia College in Columbia, Mo., at 2:30 p.m.
