NEWTON, Kan. – Missouri Baptist University men's golf took fifth place of 10 teams at the Sand Creek Station Intercollegiate in Newton, Kan., on Tuesday. The Spartans finished +72 collectively with 936 strokes over three rounds.
Friends University won the tournament as the only team to shoot under par at -23 and 841 total strokes. American Midwest Conference opponent Columbia College took second in the event at 32 over par and 896 strokes.
The Spartans were led at Sand Creek Station by another strong outing from
Luke Gardner. The junior from Springfield, Mo., finished the tournament at nine over par, improving by a stroke in each of the three rounds at 76, 75, and 74. In round three, Gardner logged 15 pars with one birdie, one bogey, and one double bogey.
Logan Malott was second on the team and 23
rd overall in the tournament at +21. He shot under 80 twice including his best round at 76 in the first. After Malott was
Blaze Greathouse and
Sam Beggs who both finished tied for 33
rd at 26 over par.
