MAUMELLE, Ark. –
Luke Gardner won the individual title at the Central Baptist College Fall Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Maumelle Country Club in Maumelle, Ark., while
Elena Montalban earned a medal with a fourth-place finish.
As a team, the men took third of seven, finishing at 902 strokes in three rounds and four shots off the leading CBC Mustangs. The women took second of three teams with 752 strokes over two rounds.
Gardner continued excellent play this fall, winning the event at four over par and 220 strokes. He shot 72 (E), 76 (+4), and 72 (E) to earn his second top-five finish this season.
Will Dugal was also in the top ten with a tie for fourth after following up a 75 (+3) and 77 (+5) with a 71 (-1) in round three. He fired a 35 with three birdies on the front nine in Tuesday's final round and followed up the second nine with a 36.
Hayden Johnson,
Ruger Govero, and
Pedro Cordova all finished in a tie for 15
th with 228 strokes (+12).
Montalban led the way for the women with 172 strokes (+28), rebounding from a 90 on day one with an 82 on Tuesday.
GG Rogers additionally came in sixth with 180 strokes (+36), while
Chelsea Young was on her heels in seventh with 181 strokes (+37).
The Spartans wrap up the fall schedule at the William Woods Fall Invitational beginning on Monday, Oct. 27. The tournament will be hosted at Eagle Knoll Golf Club in Hartsburg, Mo.
