MEMPHIS, TENN. - At the NAIA Memphis Shootout the Spartans came in at 11th with Luke Gardner leading the way at +16 in the three round event.
On the first day at TPC Southwind Gardner came in at +8 in a round with a trio of birdies after starting his round off at -2 following the first two holes. Sam Beggs' first round also saw a trio of birdies as he finished at three over.
Day two had a great round for Gardner in store as he went +1 on the day with four birdies, three of them on par fours. Beggs went +5 in his second round with three birdies, including one on the par three at hole 11.
Gardner went +7 in the third and final round of the NAIA Memphis Shootout bringing him in at 22 out of 65 golfers with a +16 total. Beggs finished in 41st at the tournament, trailed shortly by Logan Malott by one stroke. In Malott's second round he picked up an eagle on the par five at seventeen.
Ethan Hanaman and Blaze Greathouse rounded out the Spartans lineup as they came in at 51 and 52, respectively.
The Spartans will be back in action on Oct. 21 and 22 when they head to Newton, Kan.
