ST. LOUIS — After triumphing over Stephens College 3-1 in the American Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Tournament Quarterfinal game, Missouri Baptist University Women's Soccer is set to play third-seeded William Woods University on Monday (Nov. 11) in the conference semifinal match, hosted by Missouri Baptist.
MBU displayed an excellent performance against Stephens College. Mara George and Natalie Gum were integral in Missouri Baptist's quarterfinal win, scoring their first goals of the season. Also, three different Spartans, Piper Brown, Leah Maxvill, and AnnaRose Eldred, assisted all three goals.
WWU defeated sixth-seeded Williams Baptist University 4-0 in their quarterfinal game on Nov. 9. Goalkeeper Bella Boschert recorded her 16th career shutout, and four different players scored goals for the Owls. William Woods has won four AMC tournament championships to Missouri Baptist's three. MBU has been regular season champions three times, whereas WWU has only been regular season champions once.
Earlier in the season, Missouri Baptist beat William Woods 3-1 off a hat trick from AMC First-Team All-Conference recipient Skylar Hollingshead. Fellow AMC First-Team All-Conference recipient Gabby Mattli made six saves throughout that match as well.
The Spartans and Owls will play each other in the AMC semifinal game tomorrow at 7 p.m., on Spartan Field.
