OKLAHOMA CITY – Missouri Baptist University men's basketball dropped its second game of the season, falling 102-67 to Ottawa University in their final game of the Abe Lemons Classic on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans fell to 0-2 to start the season and will look to pick up their first win at the MidAmerica Nazarene Tournament next Friday in Kansas, where they face Grand View University.
Two MBU players scored in double figures, with Evan Palmquist leading the team with 19 points, followed by Breven McMullen with 16. Palmquist also grabbed eight rebounds and added two assists, while Austin Lewis scored seven points and collected nine rebounds.
Shooting percentages told the story, as the Spirit outshot MBU 53.6 percent to 29.3 percent from the field. Ottawa also connected on 52.9 percent of its 3-point attempts, sinking 18 three-pointers, while the Spartans hit just 18.4 percent from beyond the arc with seven made three-pointers.
Missouri Baptist was outscored 56-25 in the first half but played a near-even second half, being edged out 46-42. The Spirit's lead, however, was too much to overcome, as Ottawa secured the 102-67 victory.
