MARION, Ind. — Select members from the Missouri Baptist University Men's and Women's track and field teams traveled to the IWU Midwest Classic on Saturday (Feb. 3), and they brought home three first place wins.
Donovan Denslow (14:45.88) sprinted to first place in the men's 5000 m run, hitting an NAIA 'A' standard.
Graduate student Mayson DeRousse also hit an NAIA 'A' standard in the men's pole vault, taking first place and reaching his personal record of 5.15 m.
On the women's side, Emily Farchmin (2:21.51) placed first the 800 m run. She also participated in the women's 4 x 800 m relay with Mia Reed, Adrienne Rockette, and Angela Ward, taking fifth place with a time of 9:52.83
Reed, Rockette, and Ward also performed well in other events at the meet. Reed (3:05.47) took third place out of 31 competitors in the women's 1000 m run.
Rockette (2:28.23) finished ninth in the women's 800 m, and Ward (1:41.43) took 6th place in the women's 600 m.
Mattie Noyes also fought hard in the women's 600 m, finishing at 18 with a time of 1:52:58.
Freshman Grant Patten ran the men's mile in 4:35.16, landing at 20th place out of 80 opponents.
In the men's 1000 m, David Fletcher (2:36.13) took ninth place.
Camden Woolbright (8.88) participated in the men's 60 m hurdle where he placed 6th. He also finished at number nine in the men's pole vault.
On Friday (Feb. 9), MBU will head to Pittsburg, Kan. to compete in the 9th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic.
