SAINT LOUIS – A couple of Missouri Baptist Spartans won American Midwest Conference Weekly Baseball Awards on Monday. The AMC is recognizing
Landon Albers as the Pitcher of the Week and
Alex Adams as the Player of the Week.
For Albers, it is his first ever Pitcher of the Week honor. It follows a week in which the Breese, Ill. native threw six innings of one-hit baseball against Harris-Stowe State University on Friday. He walked just one and fanned seven in picking up the victory in the seven-inning game. Albers' record now sits at 3-0 on the season through 28 innings across eight appearances, including three starts.
This is the third such honor for Adams, to go along with two nods last season. He comes off a week in which he hit .550 (11-20) with four singles, two doubles, five home runs, 12 RBIs and 12 runs scored. The native of Wildwood, Mo. was three for four with three home runs this past Saturday against Harris-Stowe. This is the first Player of the Week award for Adams this season, having previously won it in Week Two and Week Ten last year.
Due to an early week cancelation with Indiana University Southeast, the Spartans will enjoy some time off before jumping back into AMC play this weekend by traveling to Conway, Ark. on Friday to take on Central Baptist College.
